Tuuuuesday

Tuesday was me and the other nurse Catie's day off - we dropped two girls off at the airport then went for a hike at Blacktail Butte (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blacktail_Butte). It was a nice warm day, with great views and a nice workout.

This is Catie and the start of our hike.

Not a horrible starting view, huh?

Purty.

WOW!
After our lovely hike and lunch at the top, we went to town for some errands. I actually got my passport pictures taken. In my hiking clothes. Covered in dirt and sweat. And that's the most I've ever felt like I belonged to the town of Jackson Hole. I kid you not. I don't really get the whole "don't smile" business in these new passport pictures though. I look like a terrorist. Maybe that's the point. I guess it's not very effective to be showing around dangerous people's pictures at airports with them looking like this:
After errands and a quick drive out to Teton Village (where everyone and their mom goes to ski in the winter - except for me. And my mom.) I shopped at a little place in town for jewelry. It's an illness, people. I can't help it. Then Catie was starving for dinner so we ate at Mountain High Pizza Pie. So good. Then THEN! I finally saw Harry Potter 7 Part 2!!!!! Best day of my life. Ok, I exaggerate but really, it was A.Maz.Ing.
It was funny we ran into some people we worked with at camp and ended up sitting with them. Which was great because I was able to share my Swedish Fish instead of eating them all by myself.
Unfortunately coming back to camp the Togwotee Pass closed (we were late by like 7 minutes), so we "slept" in the car until midnight when they let us through. Finally got to bed around 1:30. That was quite the day off!

Hey Girl, Hey

Girl's season is off to a great start - the girls can't even believe they've already been here a week. Sunday was their first rodeo, and they did so well!
Go Rob Bob!
Spotted: Gold cowboy boots. Notice the purple socks - this girl is fashion-forward!
So cute :)
We also celebrated Christmas in July. Of course we did, we're Summer Camp. We take every opportunity to dress up in silly costumes.

The infirmary's Christmas card photo:

Hope your 25th of July was as fun as ours! Use lots of sunscreen!!!

Goodbye Boy's Season....

Ok, so we got a tad bit busy through the end of boys season. Hence the no posting. Let's see, a frozen gatorade incident, a split lip in soccer, a broken clavicle, vomiting... tons of fun! The Trailblazer boys (the oldest group in camp) gave their Vespers (or reflections) and made us all cry. It was really sweet.

Boys before their speeches.
We finally got to the end of boys season last Sunday, and had our final rodeo! The parents came to watch their kids participate in events such as barrrel racing, keyhole, polebending, egg-and-spoon, musical mares (musical chairs on horseback - really fun), water balloon toss, dance contest (Lenz could teach a Michael Jackson dance class), and team roping. It was nice to meet the parents that raised such nice (and hilarious) kids. I think they got weirded out that we kept saying we loved their children. But it was true. It's a week later and I still miss them :(

Alex, Callen and Chris - 100% goofy.
Ben and Jake, best buds and bros.
George and Paul. Grown men in small bodies.
Kit, leading our staff into the TVRC brand.
See? Pretty dang good.

Infirm girls keeping them hydrated and slathered with sunscreen!
Johnny. So photogenic, it's not even funny.
Webby and our daily visitor John. This is me and John's favorite video.
 Clarks.
Chase, lunch buddy.
Henry, our "Rrrrrooodeo" clown, just sprayed our photographer Nina with water, soaking her jumbo expensive camera. Oops.

 Lawson, our little buffalo. BUFFALO!!!
George, the one day you DON'T wear your vest.
Roping champs, seniors on the left, juniors on the right.
To steal Katie's quote, "Pierson and his ladies." The sweetest boy ever.
Wally and Stephen. 66% of the Infirmary Fan Club.

We had Monday off, then girls came Tuesday morning. It's like running a marathon, we just can't stop. If I were running one by myself, I'd stop frequently... Pegah knows this. It was great having a lot of returning girl campers - not a whole lot of work to remember names. :) Today is rodeo Sunday, which means we started our day sleeping in, ate cinnamon rolls, yogurt and granola (best homemade granola you'll ever have in your life). We're off soon to Sunday lunch: grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. Then RODEO! and finally ending our day with Staff dinner - bbq served by the staff and then ice cream. Our kitchen is so great this summer it's hard to think of anything other than the food. I have made it my mission to start taking more photos of the girls and the area here to make you all jealous. :) Save me a spot by the pool, I'll be home in less than a month!!!

Happy July!!!

Hope you all had a great fourth of July! We were very very busy here at camp. Luckily no firework-related injuries. Just stitches, a split lip and a broken collarbone. Poor kids. After the 4th of July fun, we had Olympics Day yesterday, where four teams compete for the camp trophy. The teams were Flower Power
Team Neon:

Team Lax Bros:
(Lax Bros are too cool for pictures BTW)
and Team Rednecks (NASCAR is Our Life)

Yep, on Garrett's belly it says "Don't Stare"

The boys had a ton of fun - the infirmary's part of the relay race was the Infirm Check-In. It consisted of Taking Your Meds (a cup of chocolate chips), Applying Sunscreen (a full cup of it), Wrapping Your Partner's Knee, Saving A Life (using an EpiPen trainer on their partner) and Patching a BooBoo (bandaid on random body part). They were super fast. Then two kids threw up after the pie-eating portion. One little guy was crying because he was "disappointed in his poor performance." After a day of running around, the kitchen hosted a Viking Dinner, where everyone ate like Viking Men (just their hands). The nurses were totally grossed out but we kept it clean.
This is Griselda (Emmy).
Today all the kids are out of camp so we could get a water main fixed. That means I'm going to town for lunch! At the Cowboy Cafe http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/h_pZEPcn3hRdxlm0i2i-4g?select=h-ALQ2MhUEZJpNh__HkAlA they have amazing burgers and daily homemade pies. YUM.
Now that my camera batteries are charged and I can steal the infirmary's internet, I'll be updating a lot more frequently, I hope! Hope your summer vacays are going well! Miss you all!
