Hello, and Welcome...

...to the Everglow by Mae. Sorry, that album's intro gets stuck in my head easily. Thanks for visiting! I have always longed for an extended vacation, but now that I've had seven weeks off of work (pre-planned, so not exactly unemployment) I realize it's not all it's cracked up to be. I don't really think I'll ever take this much time off of work again if I can help it. Although it was jam-packed with home-improvement projects, a bridal shower, and planning/crafting said bridal shower so I wasn't really bored.
So to catch you up, I had been working at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego for the last seven months. I floated departments daily - which annoys a lot of people but I loved the diversity. One day medical, next day surgical, maybe hem/onc or NICU my third day. Oh and can I tell you the weird coincidence that happened one day? So I had a baby who came back from surgery a little too sedated for my liking and needed a little extra TLC post-op. So, spending time with her parents I noticed their diverse accents and asked them how they met. She raised horses and he was a roping champion. I told them I worked at a ranch camp over the summer and the Cowboy in charge of horsemanship lessons was also a roping champion. They knew him. They competed against each other. How flippin random is that? Anyway, I liked working at Rady's because it reminded me of the "family" I worked with at St Joe's in Phoenix. Pure crazy. ;) They offered me a permanent job too many times to count and I might go back - when I've seen other parts of the country first.
I was also so blessed to find a wonderful group of people to worship with my last couple of months there at the El Cajon Church of Christ. Not only are they the friendliest group of people I've ever met, but the most welcoming. I spent my birthday at a stranger's house eating delish tacos and cinnamon rolls (strange combo but it worked) talking about travel and becoming basically besties with a girl who wanted me to marry her husband's brother so I could be her sister-in-law. Speaking of besties, when I got home from San Diego, my friend Pegah was just getting home from Costa Rica with her boyfriend. She called and asked very suspiciously what I was doing the next weekend and how set in stone those plans were. Reason? They decided to ELOPE in VEGAS!

The whole weekend was fantastic - chill night out Friday, pool Saturday morning and by the evening they were married and I was enjoying the best steak of my entire life (I'm realizing I might be hungry as I write this...). They even scored the photographer they had been eying that had been booked right up to the last minute. Fate? I think so. The whole weekend went smoothly. Other than that weekend I haven't gone anywhere this summer. Which was good, because I was able to meet with and catch up with a lot of my friends in town. I leave again this week for Wyoming and hope to post weekly to keep you informed. Plus, I don't have cell service there, so this will serve as small doses of Stacy to get you through until the time where I can actually talk or text again.
