Snow? Really?

Ooh, sorry about the delay in posting.... my computer had no internet for quite a while and I was sad. So the day before the boy campers got here, it snowed. Legit 3 inches of snow. REEEdiculous!
It was really cold with lots of flurries before bed, but the only way I saw this was because I went out to wrangle the next morning. Yes, wrangle. As in getting horses in from the pasture. On a horse. I know, totally unbelievable, right?
It all melted by noon, and the boys came the next day on a bright and shining warm day. Figures. Although there was so much snow melting from this winter that the guy counselors had to dig a trench through camp (named Winds 2 after the river that goes through the front of the property) the morning the campers and their parents arrived. The boys are great. A lot of returning faces from last year, although they are a lot higher up (some kid grew 6 inches in a year, another didn't grow at all).
Looks like Christmas right? Deceptive. Well, the campers are trying to kill themselves (i.e. Parkour), so I better go. But I'll write again soon, I promise!

Camp Life

So I've been here for over week now, can you believe that? I can't. I never even know what day it is. That's the cool thing about living in the middle of nowhere and having no real ties to the real world. At least my laptop has internet connection this year, even if it does take 30 minutes to upload 4 pictures....
SO! The drive from Jackson to camp, just outside of Dubois (The Wonderland of Wyoming, or so they claim), took about an hour and twenty minutes. Driving over the Togwotee pass, http://www.jacksonholenet.com/webcams/togwotee_pass.php, I was freaking out, thinking there would be about 9 feet of snow at camp (how much was on the pass when I drove through). There wasn't, thank goodness. It's been great being back! I'm working with a lot of the same people from last year, including Karlyn, the NP I work with in the infirmary. We're a special blend of crazy.
After we were hard at work with the other nurse Katie and our nursing assistant Jess, the camp arranged a day hike for all of us to go on. We were blessed to go on the non-snow covered hike.

The hike was great, but was my first cardio at 2000 feet, so I was a little winded. We've had a lot of time to prepare for boy's season - I got here Monday and the boys don't arrive until this Saturday. Crazy, I know. Life has been pretty good at camp. I am staying in a cabin that has a floor heater, a tv, and plenty of room for my yoga mat. Sweet, right?
Last night we did some staff bonding and went to Dubois for some legit square dancing. It was awesome. Do-si-do-ing is not my forte, though, that's for sure. Also this week I got to see/ride my favorite horse Brutus. I think I love him because we're both pretty stubborn. Oh, and our cowboy from Tucson returned! We bonded over our shared education at the U of A, even though he graduated a good 30+ years before I did.
Hopefully I'll be able to upload more pictures soon to share with you!

Jackson Time

Road Trip! I took off Friday morning, heading for my summer job at Teton Valley Ranch Camp as a camp nurse. Check out the camp here: http://www.tvrcamp.org to see what it's all about. Bye Arizona! (For now).
I tend to always drive by scenic/historic turn-offs but I decided to finally go see this.
I'm glad I did because it was awesome. Housing in the side of a mountain. Looked like the world's first (and strongest) condo community.  http://www.nps.gov/moca/historyculture/index.htm - another historical reason why Teddy Roosevelt is my favorite President of all time. Plus, he carried a big stick.
I had taken the North Rim drive the last time I went to Wyoming so I chose the South Rim this time - MUCH better scenic drive, I think. No offense, city of Page. This bridge was amazing.
How'd you like to go swimming in the green water? Looks totally healthy.
The next few hours weren't as exciting, although I do love driving through the little towns at the southern part of Utah. They have a LOT of character. I found this for you, bro. Although the house looks to be quite the fixer-upper.
I drove through what seemed like 70 miles of construction before I found the Holiday Inn Express. Let's face it, hotel options are numerous but who has cinnamon rolls like they do? I mean, seriously, they make me actually want to wake up in the morning. That's saying something. This is the view from the hotel parking lot. Yep, that's snow. Pray for me.
Driving past SLC (which ALWAYS makes me think Punk), I remembered where I went for lunch last year in Park City. It's called Leger's Deli and if you're ever in Park City, try it out. They make the biggest sandwiches you've ever seen. I love egg salad, and this is only a HALF sandwich.
Yes, I took a picture of my sandwich. It was that good. I sat at a scenic overlook and ate it, totally ignoring the scenic overlook. Yum.
I saw this sign three different times.
Utah to Wyoming to Idaho to Wyoming to Idaho and then back into Wyoming. Totally normal.
Their roads might be silly but it sure is pretty here. Although this sign is just plain crazy.

The bird broke the sign's heart? Or a dove will patch the broken heart of a sign? What does this MEAN?!
Aw, doesn't lil Zip look so cute next to the forest? That still has SNOW in it, but I digress.
Anyway, I finally got to Jackson Hole, where I got a hotel room and then proceeded to spend an exorbitant  amount of money on a pair of Lucchese black boots. I consider them to be an INVESTMENT because they're fancy and I'll have them forever. So shush. They are the most comfortable things ever too.  Well, they ought to be right? They're currently in safe keeping in the trunk of my car but here's what they look like:

Oh yeah! I almost forgot, I met a bear already! Hahahahah

Talk to you again real soon!
